Synopsis

Ali & Ava. Two different worlds intersect within the reality of Bradford, an industrial city in the heart of Yorkshire. Ali manages flats and is living in a marriage marked by suffering. Ava is a primary school teacher. They meet and fill each other’s lives by defying conventions and obstacles along a path of romance, blaring songs and passion. Ali & Ava, presented at the Cannes Film Festival 2021 at the Directors’ Fortnight, completes acclaimed director Clio Barnard’s Yorkshire trilogy with this comedy about love through the rejuvenating power of music.
